Most songs are singalongs and all kinds of instruments are welcome (strings, whistles, woodwinds, hand drums, etc.). This is an acoustic session so no electric instruments please, and sorry, please refrain from loud bagpipes. :) Some suggested songs: Wild Rover, The Leaving of Liverpool, Whiskey You’re The Devil, Tell Me Ma, Foggy Dew, The Tempest. Music Theory Class

Having trouble with treble? Are you going nuts over reading notes? No worries. Let classically-trained violinist Andrew Certner take you step-by-step through the world of music theory. No prior musical training is required. These classes will cover major and minor scales, chords and arpeggios as well as key signatures, time signatures, rhythm and pitch notation and a whole lot more.

OMP-member Andy Certner teaches violin, viola and music theory. Currently 1st violin in many chamber music ensembles, he performed in Atlantic City for seven years with stars such as Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett. He has a bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from New School of Music in Philadelphia and has been teaching private violin and viola students for the nine years at two Music & Arts locations in Richmond.

The composer Pauline Oliveros (1932-2016) developed the concept of Deep Listening, which includes group singing activities that focus on mindfulness and breathing practices. Inspired by Pauline's compositions, we gather at Orbital Music Park to explore the world of Deep Listening through guided meditation. You do not need to be a singer to join (I'm not).
